EFC6 was the most well organized, thought out, planned, and promoted amateur MMA event I have ever been to. The fights were phenomenal, never a dull moment and it wasn’t like a typical fight night where the first fights are boring and dry and then the title fights have the blood bath. All the fights, I will say it again, were absolutely fantastic to watch. I had the pleasure of sitting next to an official, TC Bobbitt, I got to meet Mackens Semerzier (and if you don’t know who that is then you need to brush up on your world of MMA !), and best of all, I had the best seat in the house watching some of my dear friends own the cage. ♥

I was ready for this event before it even started, the night before I could hardly sleep! Saturday was a whirlwind, sitting in front of the cage, pen and paper ready and before I knew it the stands were filling with an anxious crowd. I listened to the people sitting behind me as they debated who would win each fight and how.
When the MC took to the ring, and by the way he needs to go into the business of using his voice because he had no mistakes (that i knew of) or fluctuations in his voice when he spoke, and the first fighters walked out to their music and took to the cage I was not ready for the night to end, this is what I live for.
The first few fights had the crowd cheering and the fourth fight had everyone screaming for more with Ryan MacAuther from MMA Institute winning with a submission in the first two minutes of the first round. The 6th fight of the night was between one of the fighters I interviewed, Michael Wheeler and David Cicoria. Mike did really great for this being his debut in the cage. Both fighters came out of their corners with hard hitting jabs. Mike had David against the cage with knees to the chest and both threw a few good combos in the first round but David took the second round and won with a rear naked at 2 minutes and 23 seconds.
Fight number 8 was one that no one will forget. After Brian Neilson defeated Joe Selvig with a TKO, Joe took to the cage with his long time girlfriend and proposed to her in the cage. It was a great way to propose and great for the crowd who definitely enjoyed being witness to the single greatest day in two peoples’ lives.
Fight number 9 is between one of the guys I interviewed, Matt Coleman and Tony Whitley. This fight was great!! Matt is definitely a very strong fighter and he is fun to watch at the same time. Matt definitely has quick fists and is very hard for an opponent to read, heck it was hard for me to try and figure out his next move I can only imagine what Tony was thinking. Round 2 was where Tony tried to take it down to a ground fight but wasn’t successful, Matt is again a strong fighter, although Tony did get a good liver kick to Matt but of course it didn’t phase BIG MATT COLEMAN. Round 3 is where Matt shows his hard work and this is where it pays off! Coleman had Tony right where he wanted him, in submission mode. With knees to the ribs and hammer fists, Matt wasn’t giving up until he got what he came for, and that was a win. My advice, keep a look out on what Matt is up to, he is going to be up and coming in the world of MMA and in the next few years I can guarantee he will be a household name.
The SUPER Heavyweight fights were great! It was like watching a WWE match. I was sad to see Zeuz getting carried out of the ring, I believe he tore his knee? The greatest sportsmanship came when Bobby, who had won not because Zuez was hurt but because he had more points with his combos. Bobby walked over and helped Zuez get out of the ring since he couldn’t walk, to me that is the greatest thing you can have when being a fighter, sportsmanship. You may have won or lost but you always respect your opponent and you treat them before and after a fight as if they were a guest in your home. That is just my opinion of course =]
I am not going to go into detail of the Nate Miller vs. Adam Gottlieb fight since I will be getting interviews from both fighters later this week. Even though Nate is a good friend of mine, Adam definitely was the stronger fighter in the cage, winning by submission. Just because you lose doesn’t make you a loser, it just makes you realize what you need to do during training, and it makes you in the end a stronger fighter. The interviews will be interesting since it will be each person’s view of how the fight went down, both winner and loser. That will definitely be interesting
so stay tuned love bugs!!
The Second title fight between Womplar and Driscoll (170lbs) was amazing. Discoll blocked a few good kicks from Womplar as Womplar tries to land Driscoll on his back. Driscoll is definitely a much stronger fighter and his hard work and training paid off in the cage. Driscoll had womplar right where he wanted him, on his back and defenseless. After many amazing and hard hitting hammer jabs, cross jabs to the face and body, Driscoll manages to make Womplar beg for mercy with a tapout. Driscoll served up a good submission with my personal favorite, ARM BAR!
The last and final fight was an amazing finale to a wonderful evening. Walton and McCallister. Dominique had Caleb in a body lock and Caleb survived a rolling foot lock from Dominique, which was amazing to watch because Dominique has the best footlocks and this one was tight and yet somehow Caleb was able to get out of it. If Caleb had not of gotten out of that, he would have surely passed out and you could see it on his face, but his determination and training definitely paid off. After Caleb escaped Dominique’s tight grip, he punished Dominique’s body with leg kicks and hit him with a lot of hard hitting jabs. Domique tried to take him down but couldn’t and you could see how exhausted Dominuqe was becoming as each round ended. Caleb definitely had more endurance, his hard work and training with cardio definitely paid off. Caleb deserved this win without a doubt and he is one of the upcoming fighters to also watch out for.
EFC could possibly be the best stepping stone for fighters looking to go pro. Rumor has it many of the fighters, even after a loss, have been approached by a few big name sponsors. As soon as I hear concrete news I will definitely pass it along
.
Stay tuned for interviews of a few of the fighters, an official judge, and even the first woman to go pro in the world of MMA….
